Position Summary
The Residential Aide reports to the House Manager and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, ensuring resident accountability, maintaining safety standards, and documenting key activities. This role is essential in maintaining a recovery-conducive environment in alignment with VARR and NARR standards.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Monitoring & Safety
· • Monitor and document resident behavior and compliance.
· • Conduct room inspections and overnight checks.
· • Administer urine drug screenings and breathalyzer tests with documentation.
· • Respond to incidents or emergencies with appropriate intervention and report them promptly.
· • Ensure overall safety and security of the residence.
House Operations & Communication
· • Maintain and update the house communication log.
· • Answer phone calls, relay messages, and document key information.
· • Oversee the sign-in/sign-out log for resident accountability.
· • Distribute mail and assist with administrative updates.
· • Verify completion of resident-assigned chores and tasks.
Resident Engagement & Community Support
· • Assist with new resident intake and orientation.
· • Support resident participation in house meetings and community-building activities.
· • Model ethical, responsible behavior and reinforce house rules.
· • Serve as a liaison between residents and the House Manager.
Reporting & Administration
· • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and supply needs.
· • Complete required documentation related to incidents, inspections, and resident notes.
· • Attend monthly staff meetings and complete ongoing training sessions.
Qualifications
· • High School Diploma or GED required.
· • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
· • If in recovery, a minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety required.
· • Knowledge of 12-Step recovery programs (AA, NA) strongly preferred.
· • At least 1 year of experience in a sober living, peer support, or behavioral health setting.
· • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
· • CPR and Naloxone training preferred (or required within 30 days of hire).
· • Must maintain professional boundaries and resident confidentiality.

This position is aligned with the standards of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) and the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR). Residential Aides play a vital role in upholding the integrity, safety, and community environment required for VARR certification.
